A MOTORCYCLIST had her pants torn off and was knocked unconscious by a protective bison who charged when the women got too close to a calf.

The stunning tape shows a handful of motorcyclists in South Dakota’s Custer State Park coming to a halt as the road and hills surrounding it suddenly became overrun by grazing bison.
The bikers, in the area for the 2020 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, were riding around the state park Wednesday when the bison crossing prompted many of them to stop and take photos.
That’s exactly what a 54-year-old Iowa woman did.
But as she snapped her pics she also approached a young bison to take an up-close photo.
That’s when the adult bison charged her from the side, accidentally affixing itself to her belt with its horn and tearing off her jeans.
The bison knocked her unconscious as it spun around erratically before freeing itself and running off, her jeans still attached to its horn.

The Custer County Chronicle reports the woman was flown to a hospital by Black Hills Life Flight and was treated for minor injuries.
Custer County Sheriff Marty Mechaley told the Chronicle the woman was apparently saved from serious injury because her pants came off, allowing the bison to run away.
The sheriff emphasized all motorists should stay in or on their vehicles and keep a safe distance from bison.
